Where to Shop
Your shopping choices in Houston are practically unlimited. Near River Oaks is Texas’ largest shopping mall, the Galleria, with more than 375 stores, two hotels, an ice rink and countless restaurants. The alfresco shopping experience at Uptown Park offers upscale boutiques. Not far is Highland Village, where high-end national retailers, such as Anthropology, Pottery Barn and Williams Sonoma, mix with restaurants and locally owned shops. Closer to downtown, there are Billy Reid, Sloan-Hall and many antique shops.
A popular attraction in the River Oaks Shopping Center is the Landmark River Oaks Theatre, which dates to 1939 and is known for showing independent and foreign films.
What to See
The West University area, nestled between Highway 59 and the 610 Loop, is one of city’s the most desirable districts and the home of Rice University and Rice Village Shopping Center.
One of the most culturally diverse cities in the country, Houston offers an endless number of cultural attractions. NASA’s Space Center Houston is a world-renown educational and entertainment facility.
